I graduated from Texas A&M with an Economics degree in 1974, I was licensed as a local pastor in 1992 completed my theological education at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, and was ordained by the Methodist Church in 2003. I was the pastor of Bedias and Shiro UMC from 1996 to 1998. In 1998, I quit my successful secular career to answer God’s call to full-time ministry and served New London United Methodist Church in New London, Texas, for five years.
After ordination I was appointed as the Preaching Associate of First United Methodist Church in Lufkin, Texas, followed by an appointment to Cypress UMC in Cypress, Texas, as Senior Associate/executive Pastor. Plus, I was appointed the Senior Pastor of the Anderson/Navasota Methodist churches. I was honored to be longest serving pastor in the history of both churches.
I have had the honor and privilege to learn and experience a large number of different ministries. I have served in various key leadership and ministry positions in the districts I have served, i.e. clergy excellence, congregational excellence, district committee on ordained ministry, conference board of ordained ministry, Spiritual Director & team leader of several Emmaus Communities as well as actively involved in Kairos prison Ministry.
I believe in the sacred worth of all individuals and the necessity of the church to stand up for those who are marginalized or disenfranchised. Furthermore, I adamantly feel everyone should be treated with courtesy and respect.
I am a passionate preacher who feels the key to church growth and ministry and program vitality is for the Holy Spirit to be more than just religious word.
Non-judgmental listening and relationships are important. I It’s critical for those called to ministry to be genuine, authentic, and real with people. I was a late in life convert (38) and those who pushed, shoved, judged and showed no joy kept me away from a genuine & authentic relationship with people and God. I am encouraged when folks quit calling me their preacher and starts calling me their pastor.
So, do you need to call on the phone, email or a personal visit with a little or a lot of care, encouragement is why W.H.E.E.L.S. was founded for that very reason.
In my past I was known as the “wild child” so there is more than a chance I have walked in your shoes so we can “cuss” and discuss anything! God is big enough to handle it and so am I. There will not be a need for you, or your family to walk on eggs. We can be honest & genuine with the situation[s].
So many Pastors no longer take care of the emotional, downtrodden, disenfranchised, hopeless, sick, aging and dying. I’ve spent a great deal of my time in ministry to those who have been virtually forgotten even by their own families.
God IS our creator and we are all brothers and sisters, regardless of our station in life, denomination, creed, lifestyle or our race.
THERE is an incredible amount of needs with those are who keep us safe; law enforcement, military, firefighters and their families. Our society has no idea what these folks deal with every single day and I have dedicated myself to their care. They too know they can call on me anytime day of night.
The “WHEELS Ministry Services” was birthed out of the love I have for people & relationships and I value the experienced I have gained in my career in the institutional church. However, I experienced more and more frustration. God was leading me to a ministry that was more about interacting with people than church politics of or bricks, mortar and money.
We pride ourselves on having honest, down to earth, genuine, sincere conversations about living, life, relationships, death, marriage and faith with no barriers or judgment. Gathering around a campfire in a campground has no walls and our conversations are “REAL!”
So God birthed the ministry where “the church left the buildings” which pretty much says it all. The WHEELS MINISTRY is about hope, encouragement, Jesus and meeting people’s needs where they are!
I participate in many events and activities. Council meetings, gun shows, races, family reunions to offer prayers, mediation and workshops on spiritual formation, Bible Study, grief, divorce care and marital communication.
When a preacher needs a break I will fill the pulpit with enthusiasm and zeal!
I have been with church members, friends & others during those times when they are removing their folks from life support and I have officiated many funerals and Biblical weddings.
PEOPLE MATTER, YOU MATTER AND YOUR FAMILY MATTERS!
I am an ordained pastor from a mainline denomination plus I am an ordained Chaplain. I have dual credentials though the institutional church ordination then a specialized ordination focusing on pastoral care in many different situations. I’m all about getting to know folks and I love people, life, and laughter, and do not try to take myself so seriously to miss the joy of the blessings God gives us in everyday. “Laughter IS God’s Sunshine.”
